Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi guys! So I was just wondering if anyone else has this issue- I feed my doodle Purina Beneful with real Salmon and sweet potato and he usually does fine with this, but recently whenever I take him on walks he gets really stinky loose stool. Usually he has normal stools whenever I just let him go in the backyard and not on a walk, but sometimes has loose stools right after his normal stools as well. I've heard of canned pumpkin to help balance out their digestion, bulk up stool etc and I just wanted to see what everyone else's experience is with this. He is 1 years old and 66 lbs. (ALSO just wondering what is the normal weight range for F1 standard labradoodle males? Is he too small?) thanks!

Hi Livi,

We have a very large, very active group here on DK called The Food Group, where we have a list of recommended food brands and lots and lots of info about everything related to food. Please join us. Beneful is not a recommended brand (it contains some pretty bad ingredients) and rather than adding pumpkin to your dog's diet, it would probably be better in the long run to switch to a higher quality food.

What Karen said.  There are much better foods for long term health.  There is no standard for doodles since they are a mixed breed dog.  You want to be able to feel the dog's ribs but not see them - that is how you tell if their weight/height ratio is correct.
