My mom called yesterday (Wednesday) to say that she found fleas on Barley. Halas and Barley were together Monday evening, so I checked Halas pretty closely last night and this morning, but I don't see any fleas on him. I checked his belly, around his face, and in his hair as best as I could. I also haven't noticed any in the house. Mom got Barley some Capstar, so he should be flea-free pretty quickly. I'm wondering if I should get Halas a Capstar, just in case. Does it make sense to do that? Or is it just a waste, since I haven't seen any fleas, and Halas is on Frontline?

I would not use a Capstar unless he had them. I have used regular Dawn liquid to kill fleas on Jake. I find it to work much better then flea shampoos. He found an opossum in the yard this past summer and they transferred themselves right onto Jake. Of course I found this out 2 days later:(
Capstar will kill whatever is already on the dog, but there's no lasting effect or protection. It's my understanding that if your dog is already on flea preventatives, you don't need Capstar. Rescues use it to kill whatever may be on shelter dogs, strays, etc. immediately and then they still have to start an ongoing flea preventative program like Frontline, etc. I'd check with your vet to be sure, though.
I would do a Capstar in a heartbeat, but check with your vet.
