Thanks to all of you who passed on suggestions and good wishes to my earlier discussion.  As it turns out, Chervil's vomiting continued, and the vet grew increasingly concerned when even the anti-vomiting medicine didn't work.  Early xrays didn't show any visible obstruction, but xrays this morning, after injecting some sort of dye) indicate that there's either something that's very difficult to see obstructing her or there's a problem connected with an organ.   Her stomach is extended and so there may be a tumor there, or a liver node growth, or some other surprise.  We got to go see her before surgery, which was wonderful and agonizing, too.   Please send good thoughts.  It's just awful to see her get so sick so suddenly and not know the likely outcome.  Even sick, though, she remained sweet and happy to see us.

Oh Linda, so sorry that sweet Chervil and you have to go through this.  I will keep a good thought for you and hope for a very positive outcome.  Take care.

My heartfelt thanks for all the kind wishes and prayers.  Chervil seems to have come through surgery well.  She ate a small sharp stick, which punctured her intestine, and she also ate grass and straw, which had balled up in her stomach and in her intestines.  The grass seemed to be threaded together, and the whole wad caused the problem (compounded by the tiny, but sharp, stick).  She will be on pain meds for a short time, and heavy-duty antibiotics to combat infections.  And the vets want her eating and flushing out any remaining grass still in her system as early as tonight.  (A big shout out here to all the fabulous vets out there who take care of our darlings so well.)  She'll be going home with one of the vets tonight to keep the IV going and to watch her for infection, and then, if all goes well, she can come home later tomorrow.

Thank you, all of you, for being there.  May all the other doodles who are suffering this week find a quick and treatable resolution to their struggles.

Wonderful news that this can/will be resolved!  What an ordeal.  Wishing you and Chervil better days ahead!

I am so glad she is doing better and look forward to you posting she is coming home :)  Prayers are with you!

I didn't read far enough down this post to see that she is doing well. I am so glad to hear that they found the cause of her problem and that she is on her road to recovery.

Oh, thank goodness she's going to be OK.  I hope she has a speedy recovery!

So glad to hear she is going to be fine.

So happy to read this news this morning...here's hoping she's back home with you today.

Just read your post this morning.  Wishing Chervil a speedy recovery.

Linda,   I'm so happy the outcome for Chervil is positive.    Wishing her a very speedy recovery.   I'm guilty of allowing Banjo to chew on sticks (it gives him such pleasure).....but that is all going to change....no more wood....no more sticks.   I hope Chervil is back home with you today!

Awesome news-hope she recovers quickly! You have a great vet!!

I'm so glad Chervil's surgery went well! May she continue to do well and have a speedy, uneventful recovery!
