Annabelle was quite the chewer the first 18 months or so of her life. Even now at almost 4, she will get in a chewing mood. We like the West Paw toys. Her favorites are Hurley the bone and the zisc, that looks like a frizbee. They both have stood up to her chewing. I do replace them now and then, so we have gone through a few.

So, my 'doodle is only 4 months old. Vet said not to go with horns yet & to use filled kongs instead.

She loves one particular brand of bully stick but tends to swallow them after a bit and then throw them back up.

I feel like I don't have enough / varied options around for, but I'm not sure what to do.

Read about yak cheese sticks but also saw lots of negative comments about these as well.

I can't imagine what kind of negative comments you've seen about Himalayan chews, but they are recommended in The Food Group here.

I also like beef tendons and beef tracheas. Both can be ordered from Bark Shop. My 6 mo old Mini Poodle loves the tendons and they last a good long time for him.

For non-edible chew toys, I like the Kong brand stuffed toys. They hold up really well to puppy teething and chewing.

Himalayan chews were great for Luna when she was a puppy.  After a while she got strong enough to just gnaw off larger pieces so we had to swap to antlers since apparently she was a very rough chewer :p

Will have to keep the been tendons etc. in mind for new pup.  There's a small boutique pet store a few blocks from our house that carries all sorts of good stuff so they might have them. :)

Bark Shop carries a good line of beef tendons and beef tracheas, as well as lots of other chews; all of their prodcuts are made in America.

Unfortunately if it's like a lot of U.S. stores the duty fees make it so that it's not worth it sometimes.  Worth investigating though since I see they have free shipping over $35 like Amazon.

If not, you can probably find something similar at the boutique pet supply store. Just ask about sourcing.

There are different types of Kong toys you can get, some you can put treats in. (thanks for the review of the Kong stuffed Karen, I was wondering about those!). I don't use chew sticks because when they get small Picco will swallow them!

The Kong Cozies line are the ones that have worked well for me; they come in different sizes, they're widely available, and they have stood up to puppy chewing where other stuffed toys have not.

Zogoflex and Westpaw and Outward Hound toys are pretty tough.

Toys made out of fire hoses can be durable, BUT you need to make sure that is what they are really made of - I made that mistake - genuine fire hose toy lasted my chewer for a few weeks, fake fire hose toy lasted one day - obviously NOT made of a fire hose.

I myself love these type of toys, but Truffle has no interest; she'll chew on kongs - if they are stuffed with food, and only one particular type of pizzle stick; she went through a $2 pig ear yesterday in under 20 minutes! Haven't yet stopped by the one local store that sells Himalayan chews - but if they go as fast as the pig ear, that won't be much of an option either.

Try beef tracheas, they last much longer than bully sticks.
