Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Okay, I'm loosing it but what a better place to loose it than DK.
With the increase in popularity of some breeds of dogs the increase in pros and cons occur.
Take for example the increase in demand for Dalmatians after the movie, 101 Dalmatians, was released in 1996. Many of these dogs were found to be over bred and not the great family pets as once thought. Many dogs lost their homes when families found they had to train them or this was not the right dog for a family, or " I bought the dog for my children but found they do not take care of the dog", etc.
Now with Doodles we are all witnessing the increase in popularity, BYB, adoptions, and posts that have become heart wrenching here on DK of those looking to re-home their dogs. Expect to see more.
On to my point-CHICKENS.
In my area, and across the country, designer chickens are becoming a culturally popular animal to get and place in the backyard. Cities in my area are now faced with voting on Chicken legislation.
Students and residents at Kent State University lost their battle to keep chickens in the yard. Nearby, the City of Green, will allow the chickens but no roosters. So no eggs. My other son complained his professor talked more about his chickens than he did instructing his class. Last week, a family member talked on and on about his chickens and how trendy they are. All his friends were getting them. In my area, it is everywhere. It is a fad? Designer Chickens.
I wonder if there are ChickenKisses.com? I wonder if Petfinder.com will have 1/2 million chickens for adoption?
The above Chicken, BETTY, needs a fenced in yard, another chicken to keep her company. She also has fears the sky is falling... the ad reads on.

Wait. People have peacocks?
Oh, never mind the nasty chickens, I want a peacock!
People with big places do have peacocks, none right here that I know of. I don't think your yard might qualify. Last year a peacock escaped from the zoo and flew around the Bronx for a while. Actually I don't think it really escaped since they can fly off if they chose to, they just don't usually.
I lied. I really don't want a peacock. I just want a yard that's big enough for a peacock.
A much better idea. They are beautiful though.
Yep, and they run wild until they get hit by a car. Plenty of them around here. Get some peacock eggs (fertilized of course) and you can raise your own.
For years, my friend had chickens, ducks, and geese roaming uncaged on her property. I had my "Jackie visiting" shoes, since walking from the street to her front door was sure to coat the bottoms of my shoes with ______ - and nothing smells quite as bad as chicken, duck, and goose ______ !!!!
Now you are the smart one. One of my best friends, a Gucci Bag friend, a stylish friend, attended a very short fishing journey with my sons and I, many years ago.
When I dropped her off at her mansion, she walked past the dumpster and pitched the Louie Vantan (sp) shoes.
Not that I own any I assure you but Louis Vuitton it is. Now you see why Crocs are in : )
I would love a pair of Crocs myself. She can wear/ and keep the Louis Vuitton. See how much I know. I don't even know how to spell the name let alone wear a pair.
I just could not figure out why she just did not rinse the goose poop off or just pay the help. Better yet, what part of " fishing" did she not get? But I love her! Shoes and all.
Practicality and common sense are not everyone's strong points. And some people do have more money than sense : ) Not us of course.
Well now geese! That can be a problem. When I was a child, one of our neighbors had geese in their front yard. When I went into the yard, I would have to run to the front door and the geese would chase me and peck my legs. It was a German lady who lived there and one day I arrived at the front door crying. She said "I'll get that goose." She ran out and grabbed the goose and spun his head around and said "Goose for dinner." It kind of shocked me but I was happy to have that old goose gone.
Now, there are Canada geese on the grass at school some mornings and they are looking for things to eat. They walk around pooping and eating but fly off when the children arrive. They are so pretty and fun to watch.
They can get aggressive too.
