I bought this comb maybe a month ago, and I LOVE it!  It's advertised to "knock out those knots" and I have to say it lives up to the claim.  I find it breaks apart matts like butter...maybe that's why it is called a buttercomb.  What I find is the matt is broken/sliced, and I can often "pull" it out by hand - at this point it is no longer "attached" so it is very gentle.  I find myself using this comb in lieu of Les Pooches these days.  In fact, I don't "brush" the girls, I now "comb" them.  I highly recommend this product for help with matts.

I have this comb and really like it. It is heavier than I thought. But, does a great job.
