Well here we are again.....
This time Cooper got into my travel bag this morning while I was in the shower and chewed up a razor. It was laying in pieces and it looks as though there is a tiny piece of the blade missing. I am a basket case. The Vet., said to give him bread and to watch him for the next couple of days. I am at work and am waiting for D. Daddy to get home and call me with a report on how he is acting. I swear he is going to be the death of me. I love him so.

Years ago, we had a schnauzer that ate a razor blade from a paint scraper. The vet did x-rays, and he could see it sitting inside the dog in 3 pieces. We just had to wait for him to pass it, which he did without injury. I have no idea how. That dog got into all kinds of things. He got the razor blade off of a counter that we were sure he couldn't reach. He also chewed up some new license plates that we were sure he couldn't reach.
I hope Cooper gets through this without any problems.
I'm sorry to hear this. I hope Cooper will be okay.
So that Cooper won't be the death of you, lol, it's important to be sure that nothing harmful is ever within his reach when you can't supervise him. I could leave a travel bag open, out, and within JD's reach because he would never go into anything unless there was steak in there, and he has never eaten any kind of non-food item, but Cooper obviously is a different kind of dog, so extra precautions have to be taken, for his safety and your sanity. :)
Karen, I keep my Blood Pressure moniter in a drawer in my dresser. I laid on the bed and took my BP and raised up and Cooper had pulled out every piece of clothing in that drawer without my noticing it. I have to be careful when reaching in my purse for something as he is as quick as lightening, he shoves his nose in my purse before I can get my hand in it. He has grabbed a $20.00 bill out of someones hand and ate the whole thing before we could get it out. He would be a great Bird Dog. I am going home after work and double check everything it seems like it is my stuff that he goes after. When I start running my shower he will run to the laundry room and if the door is open will grab a towel or my underware and bring up to me. I don't have much sanity left to lose. LOL......
OMG! He needs intense training on his "leave it" commands, lol!
Be sure that you never keep any sugarless gum in your purse, it's extremely toxic to dogs.
I didn't know that about the sugarless gum. What is it in the gum do you know.
He does pretty good on the leave it thing, it's just when you aren't looking. He thinks ok the coast is clear. What else is toxic besides chocolate and sugarless gum.
It's the xylitol in the sugarless gum.
The Danger Group has full lists.
Gotta ask .... did you check his poop after he ate the $20. bill?? Cooper is one smart doodle - grabbing a towel for you when you shower! That's hilarious! I hope everything worked out okay for Cooper? Cooper puts a whole new meaning to the term "watch dog"!!!!
oh dear- I will keep good thoughts. Cooper, stop making your Mommy crazy and lay off the sharp objects!
Thank you Lori
You must be frantic....hoping he passes it okay. Please let us know.
No wonder you need a blood pressure monitor! I hope everything is ok and will be watching for your posts. I have gotten so spoiled by Libby - she has never been destructive or tried to take anything. In fact, not too long ago, she actually ate a pita chip when no one was looking and that was the first time I can remember even thinking about saying "bad dog". I really don't think she ever heard those words prior to that, and I didn't bother saying it because she would have had no idea what I meant! And she's 6.....so I don't think her behavior will change at this point. We did discuss it, of course, and it hasn't happened again. Anyway, please let us know how Cooper is doing!
