Hi everyone! I am looking for a comfortable harness that fits well. Teddy is almost 3 and isn't much of a puller on walks, but I do like using a harness instead of a collar/leash combo. I've tried the Easy Walk and love the hook on the front but found it didn't have enough padding. I am now using another harness with the front hook and it has more padding and a better shape so it doesn't pull uncomfortably on his shoulders- however, it's very loose around his chest. This was the case with the Easy Walk as well. Teddy doesn't have the 'barrel chest' that seems to be required to have these harnesses fit snugly. With the one he currently he has (can't remember the name if it), the medium was too small and the large is super loose around his chest no matter how tight I make it. Any suggestions? Thank you!!

I used the Easy Walk harness with Jack for many years...too many. Last year a member here who is a canine rehabilitation  professional posted a discussion about how these types of harnesses may cause orthopedic problems: http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/do-you-use-an-ez-walk-or-s...

By the time that discussion was posted, I'd stopped using a harness. Jack earned his CGC back in 2011 (just short of his 7th birthday!), and to prepare for the CGC test, we did a LOT of work on loose leash walking. It really paid off, he stopped pulling, and ever since I've been able to walk him with just a plain buckle collar and leash. If you're using a harness because of pulling, you may want to consider doing some extra training on loose leash walking instead. If a seven year old, 80 pounder who pulled like a freight train can learn to walk properly, any dog can, lol!!

This one is fully adjustable and had front and back clips:

My Charlotte wears the Ruffwear Front Range Harness.  You can attach the leash in two places -- on the front and on the top.  It fits her well, is easy to put on, and she seems to be comfortable in it.

I have that one for Annabelle and love it. I have the Ruffwear hiking boots as well.

Shucks! That's the one I have for Teddy (Ruffwear) and I can't get it to fit right. I have the L at the tightest it will go and it's still big in the chest. He's 55 lbs. I tried the Medium and it was too small. Was there any trick to it that I'm missing? I like it because it has such nice padding. Might have to try the Balance Harness...thanks, everyone!!

I got mine from a boutique pet store and the employee fit Annabelle. I haven't had to adjust it yet. Have you looked at any of the videos online for how to fit and adjust them?

I just have a harness bought from a Pet store that has the clip(s) in the back.  Nothing special.

Is there an advantage to these types of harnesses ?  Teddy is 12 pounds.
