Does anyone have any advice on a doodle who has been coughing like he has something stuck in his throat?
Bear has been fine all day and did not start coughing til an hour ago........he is not coughing constantly. He did go outside with my husband and son to play. He tends to grab sticks and run.....so I am thinking he may have swallowed a piece of wood which may have scratched his throat.
What do you all think? When does play with sticks outside, he tends to shred them up. I think I am only being paranoid because we had lost one of our poodles this past year to congenital heart failure. I think my mind just automatically goes right to that diagnosis.
I have taken him in one other time for coughing like this and they could not find anything. I am sorry everyone...........I am just worried and would like to hear what you have to say.
Fergie gets burrs stuck in her throat when we walk on the county trail. I gave her some dry bread with peanut butter on it. It was hard for her to eat and I think the burrr ended up going down with it. This seemed to work. (It's fun to watch them eat that too - I know I'm bad).
I would like to thank all of you who have responded to my coughing issue. Bear did go for his comprehensive check up today and I did mention the coughing issue. When I went to pick him up, the vet told me she checked his throat and looked for any type of obstruction...........she did not see anything and stated that possibly pollen or something like that from outside may gone up his nose and irritated it. I did explain how he was prior to the coughing fit and that now he is no longer coughing, she was not concerned and told me to not be concerned. He seems A LOT better and has not coughed for a while now.......thank you again :)
