Hi,
Just picked up our adorable boy yesterday and he's settling in nicely. We've just started crate training, however contrary to what the book said (!) stuffed chew toys don't make him want to go in to the crate. Does anyone have tips on how I can make the crate more attractive for him? Also, naturally enough he's nipping the kids. Normal behaviour I know but I guess I should be trying to stop this behaviour now? Anyone got any suggestions? He's just not interested in the chew toys.

This is very typical behavior for a 8 week old.  The good news is, it does not last, but the bad news, it will be around for awhile.
Re-directing is your best bet.  If he doesn't want the chew toy...find something he does want.  Stuffed toys are usually pretty popular with these guys. Or maybe a ball.  Enzo would kill be for the chance to play with a squeaky ball!!!!  Have your kids have one in hand, for one he "attacks".  Right now, he views the kids as part of his litter ( which he just left)  This is how he would play with his littermates.

Crate training is a lifesaver....for all those times you just can not keep an eye on him or have him tethered to you.  But it is not to be used as a punishment.  Make it as pleasant as possible for him, with a treat or/and toy.  Lots of praise and enthusiasm.  Your chore will be to find a toy that he really enjoys.
