Cut by eye!

Remington has a small cut by his right eye from scratching near his face.  He keeps on scratching at it which just make the cut open again.  Is there anything that I can put on it that would help it heal?  I'm worried about putting anything on it because it is so close to his eye???  Advice appreciated!

Have u tried giving him som benedryl to curb the itching?...Might help, but I would check with your vet first. I know I do that with Ollie on those itching days, but I did ask the vet first...

Yes, the vet gave us something similar, but it didn't even phase him

Not the cone of shame!!!?! The suggestions given are great and I am going to store them up. We all have this stuff happen occasionally with our guys. I never thought of distraction by sock or tape (sounds like a movie title). We have some antibiotic eye ointment that that I would not hesitate to use on a cut near the eye.

It sounds to me that if he keeps scratching it then he needs to wear the "collar of shame" that Murphy had to wear last week after his surgery!! That should prevent him from scratching!
