Dakota has Gastroenteritis or Hemangiosarcoma im so sad and scared.UPDATE.

Im beside myself right now and ready to pass out from this.Dakota is at the vet over night tonight and im freaking out.She started throwing up  yesterday and wasnt drinking her water as much as normal.and not playing as much and she has the runs. Then this morning she wouldnt even go near her food bowl.So i rushed her to the vet and they thought she might have a blockage.i told them i keep my house and my yard puppy proof and there was no way it was a blockage. They did the tests and i was right. No blockage. Then they found out she has an enlarged spleen. If its Gastroenteritis then they said its her spleen working overtime trying to fight off and trying to keep with the infection and flu like symptoms. But they also told me not to rule out Hemangiosarcoma.CANCER.My mom died from lung cancer 2 and a half years ago and i got Dakota to help me get through the loss of my mom.How ironic or something like that. They have Dakota on an IV right now and I feel like this cant be happening right now. That im having a bad dream.Ive never had to go through anything like this with any of my dogs.I try to imagine life without her and it hurts so much.Im trying to keep it together for Ozzy but i cant.He is really smart and i think he knows whats going on in a way.He feels really bad for me and is sad too.The vet sent away blood samples and will have the results tomorrow sometime. Its going to feel like forever. It already has. Please convince me that its just Gastroenteritis and not Cancer.

Good news Dakota has Gastroenteritis and not Hemangiosarcoma. Now i know she doesnt have cancer anywhere in her body.Other than having Gastroenteritis she is very healthy as they did all kinds of tests on her.So its like killing 2 birds with one stone. She is going to be on antibiotics for a while and she is very sick still. She just lays there and doesnt want to to anything but she will be fine in a few days and back to her crazy bouncy self. She isnt throwing up anymore and no diarrhea and she is eating again. So all is good.Thank You to everyone. You really helped me alot and i love all of you very much. You helped me to think positive and I did after reading my feedback from you guys.I also stayed strong for Ozzy and Dakota. So again thank you everybody.

Jared, don't change anything with her food right now. That's very important. With gastroenteritis, you don't want to introduce new food until everything is back to normal and the vet gives you the green light.

For some reason, when Jack was released from the hospital after his scopes, he itched like mad for a few days before the meds kicked in. It was December, so not normal for it to have been his seasonal allergies. Nobody can explain it, but I do believe it was a histamine response in some way related to the gastrointestinal issues.

I doubt very much that Dakota has suddenly developed a grain allergy, although it's possible. More likely, though, it's a seasonal thing. See what the vet says on Wednesday.

The heavy shedding can be a combination of things; partly because it's spring, and partly because all the scratching is causing more of the loose hair to come off at once.

I am so glad everything is ok!! I have been thinking of you and Dakota.. It's so great to get an update and feel relief when it's good news!! Give her lots of love!!

Jared-this is such a relief! Hope she gets back to herself very soon!

I am soooo happy to hear about the update!!
