Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Our Sunday started out with the normal newspapers and Haley worked on his unstuffie and then took a nap.

Newspapers and breakfast are over and Haley wants to play ball.

DH tells him it isn't going to happen because it is raining. Haley's reaction:

DH tries to show Haley the National Weather Service radar on the computer but Haley won't look.

Haley's reaction to a rainy day.

Any suggestions for a possible 3 days of wind and rain and a doodle who likes to spend a lot of time outside playing fetch and can't play fetch in the house?

:)  I'm totally clueless.  We had a different storm yesterday ( from the West), another today ( from the North ) and tomorrow we will be on the outskirts of Sandy.  It was predicted to be 52 inches of snow, although they have changed that to be  just 6 inches of rainfall.  JUST 6 inches.  I feel guilty just saying anything or complaining about it all compared to what those more East are going through.

Slow moving storms that swirl above for days do more damage than hurricanes in most cases.  FLOODS. So we are on flood watch all week.

Your pictures made me laugh though because Spud is MOPING!  These dogs have been spoiled by 7 months of beautiful weather and now are totally confused as to why we do not want to play a game of fetch.

Yesterday I did give a good marrow bone, but you just can't do that more than once a week.  I am clueless as what to do on a day like this because it has been so long.

Love the last picture. Spud just moved from mopey spot #1 or I would have shared a shot of him looking just like Mr. Haley

I do have a marrow bone saved for later when it reallly gets bad.

Spud is thinking of Mr. Haley and all the rain-soaked dogs, everywhere.

Maybe tonight for Halloween he can wear a raincoat costume?

Awwwwwwwww!  : )

Hide and seek? One of you distracts Haley while the other one hides small treats around the house, then you have a treasure hunt.

If you have stairs, maybe try throwing a ball or a toy down the stairs; running down to get it and then back up to you tires them out fast.

We have no stairs, but I play ball indoors with JD, using soft stuffed balls; not much running, but he'll take it.

Bowling? I roll his large rope ball down the hallway and he chases it.

Fun training sessions, with lots of praise and treats.

Whatever you do, stay safe!

Great ideas, Karen!  I do play the step game often. It really does work.  Yesterday, I cleaned up the yard and threw out all the toys. I tried to bleach them..but I thought it was just time to give up.

I think a ride for a new toy might be good.  Large rope ball?  Hmmm.  Sounds good.  ChuckIt has a new one out and I may just have to find that one.

Spud's new favorite toy is a Potholder?   He stole the potholder a few weeks ago. I suppose it looks like a soft Frisbee.  I just let him have it.  He loves the Potholder

Thanks for the ideas, Karen.  We  have tried the stairs/ball thing,  After two fetches it takes a lot of encouragement to get Haley to go downstairs after the ball.  After 5 times all he would do is stand at the top of the stairs and look at the ball on the floor downstairs.  His idea of a soft stuffed ball is to tear it apart not to fetch it.  Silly doodle.

Trying to figure that out myself. Achilles gets very grumpy if he can't play. We just got a new fence so he is extra bummed. He would have free range in backyard. Such a sad doodle

Anna, nice to see you out there!   A new fence is wonderful. It happened to us when we put in the fence. It rained the next 6 weeks.   Like getting a new bike for Christmas and it snows 18 inches.

Hey Joanne, It was finished on Sat. So he really has had no time to explore. Oh well, he has waited this long another week wont be so bad.

Wish I had some. I spent a lot of time outside with the doodles earlier and will get in whatever we can later but then we have a long few days ahead of us.
