Molly has gotten her first matt. :( I was hoping that you all could suggest some of your favorite dematting and detangling products. Thanks in advance!
Kemp @ doodlecountry.com sells a product called The Stuff. I haven't used it but, I trust Kemp's judgement. Perhaps someone has experience with that product.
Cowboy Magic, Cowboy Magic, Cowboy Magic! Also The Original Horse Mane and Tail Spray In Detangler. If you use human products then Pantene is good. You also need a good slicker brush. My favorite is LesPoochs which you can order through Kemp at doodlecountry.com -LesPoochs is pricey though. Second favorite is MGT which is cheap and almost as good if you don't have a heavy matter. And you will need a strong metal comb.
Which Les Poochs brush do you use? And what Pantene products do you use? I use the Pantene 2 and 1 shampoo and conditioner on her and I just used suave conditioner in the thickest parts of her fur. I definitely am going to order Cowboy Magic...that seems to be a favorite.
Ned is a small doodle so Kemp advised me to get the smaller green one with bent "tines" on each side. Mostly I use the Cowboy Magic on Ned but I have used the Pantene with extra moisturizer. Ned really mats so products and brushes really make a difference.
I too, use the smaller green, bent tines, Les Pooches brush from Kemp on matts. It works beautifully. I also got a product freom Kemp, a spray on detangler from Les Pooches that seems to help, although I am not as crazy about it as everyone seems to be over the Cowboy magic.
I think, those of us with matting doods, find something that helps, and are just plain so grateful that we rave over it. I use The Original Horse Mane and Tail Spray-on Detangler also because Cowboy Magic doesn't come in that form, however it isn't as great at the Cowboy magic "salve" on specific mats. My groomer gave me something but it doesn't work as well as either of these products.
