Diamond Pet Food Suspends Delivery of All Brands made in SC

One of you great Independent Pet Store People out there sent me a 'heads up' that their Distributor would not be delivering any products made by Diamond Pet Food; though she received no explanation why.  I called Diamond and was told...

Paraphrasing 'In light of the recent Diamond Pet Food Recall, out of precaution Diamond is suspending delivery of all products made at the Diamond South Carolina facility until more information is available.'  Told to me by Julie, Diamond Pet Food Representative.

Julie did not have a list of Diamond manufactured foods made at the South Carolina Plant.  She suggested if a pet owner has a question if the food was made at the South Carolina Diamond Pet Food plant, please contact the respective company.

Solid Gold
Canidae/Felidae
Natural Balance
Kirkland (Costco Brand)
Chicken Soup
Taste of the Wild

No other information was provided.  Julie was very open and did not hesitate to share this with me.  I thank Diamond Pet Food for the openness.

It looks like you will have to contact the manufacturer of your brand to see which plant the food is manufactured in.

Thanks Karen, what I was thinking about the mice was the dog food killed them. Since one was on the floor. Thanks for the advice for air tight container. This is the first time I bought such a large bag of food.

Just as Karen said, the recall is only for he Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice but the suspension on the other brands is precautionary.

FYI...I just spoke with a Taste of the Wild Rep. and she said that if your bag of food has a X, M or O in the Production Code, then it was made in the SC Plant. I live in NC and she said that pretty much ALL stores in NC receive product that comes out of the SC Plant. They are saying that the suspension of production is to do a TOTAL CLEANUP and make sure that the issue was only with the Diamond Naturals Lamb & Rice.... They intend to know if any other products were affected by the end of the day...so, I was told.

Well, I just found out through my IBD support group that there are a few other foods which Diamond manufactures under contract, including Solid Gold and Natural Balance. Here's the info:

Diamond introduced Diamond Naturals in 2006. These products contain no by-products, corn, or wheat. They also manufacture Bright Bites brand dental treats, Taste of the Wild brand pet food, and Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul brand dog and cat food.

They also manufacture under contract, for other companies, at least some of the pet foods sold under these brands or business names.
