Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Discussions fly by in a twinkling lately and I for one think some of them are worth having around longer. And that refers not only to mine : ) Other discussions could disappear instantly and not be missed, no offense to most people intended. I would love to see the birthday area eliminated, who needs to be reminded of birthdays? Some of us think those come too often. So if the birthday area on the front page were eliminated the discussions would have a bigger piece of front page real estate and be visible longer. After all, who needs to send birthday wishes to Banfield The Pet Hospital, as some did lately. I assume it's some bot that does this automatically.

UPDATE:
If you want to remember particular friends birthdays you can use a service, which is free, to get emails beforehand.

Adina, we know they don't go "nowhere", pardon my English , but they do go off the front page. That is the issue.
Right, but veterans like you know where to find 'em ;-) I only scan the front page to see if there are 'new' discussions. It is quite rare that 20 new discussions happen in one day. I check what's new there...then head over to "Latest Discussions" to see what's being discussed most and catch up on the ones I'm keeping track of.
The issue gets much less discussion and exposure if it's not on the front page I think. For some serious or important discussions that's not a good thing. Of course for others it's a blessing. Not everyone delves beyond the front page . You and I are hardly the norm :-)
That's how I do it too. I identify what's hot by what's showing up in the activity feed and I use the feed to see who's commented on what recently. Otherwise, I go straight to the Forums tab to see what's going on.
BTW, there is only room for 10 discussions on the front page.
3 hours. I'm loosing the bet. But, that's okay.
:-)
If it is still a case of where the Blogs have to be approved before posting, it might help to do away with that requirement and some of the things that end up as discussions would go back to being blogs and then the discussions wouldn't be quite so full. I also vote to get rid of the b-days. I liked it when there weren't so many of them, but now I'll go days without seeing anyone I know. Could birthday's some how be a tab at the top or a search option instead of on the front page.
I like the tab idea!!! Blogs still do get approved but we might get more blogs about blogs if they were not and who knows what else.
That works for me too.
F. I was checking for your discussion and when I looked, there it was, gone. :>) I guess this proves your point.
Darn tooting.
