Peri has started to "mark" outside when peeing. She will follow Taquito and right after he goes potty, she squats and lifts her left leg about 4 inches off the ground. She looks like Thumper the Rabbitt!  And Taquito squats to pee; he never lifts his leg (well, hardly ever)!

Do any of your doods do this?  It is so weird!  It is not every time, but I would say at least once a day she is doing this.  We crack up!

Any other lady doods have some unladylike behaviors??  For those with male doods, do they display any ladylike behaviors?  Ha - just thought we might get some funny ones here.

Oh and Peri burps after EVERY meal.

I also remember Lady Peri had an incident at the daycare where she wasn't being very ladylike....LOL. That is so funny about the marking. So far, Fudge is still squatting like a lady and for that matter, so is Vern :)
hahahahaha:) So is Huff:) With the very rare leg lift then back down....:)

ha ha ha - nope Daisy girl is a perfect lady - NOT!

who does she have to impress, we already love her. she doesn't mark after anyone though, that's a little strange, she toots if need be and also burps.

I won't go into the other thing she does that Mommy's response is "Daisy, that is inappropriate". LOL

My son affectionately refers to our dogs as the "foofy" girls. Does that answer your question....lol. What's even funnier is they often fling their heads back to smell their bottoms as if to say.."Did I do that?"

There is absolutely nothing ladylike about Jackdoodle. Nobody has ever mistaken him for anything other than male!

My female poodle peed exactly the way Peri does. She'd squat and then tilt to one side a little, lifting her paw like Thumper! She also marked when taking a walk...every tree, every bush, every other blade of grass got watered. It was a dominance issue with her.

Ha!  Well, Peri is dominant, so this makes sense :)

Clover has not picked this habit up from the female yorkie's.  They follow the male around marking everywhere he goes.  At least it's not the other way around and Peri goes on Taquito's head, lol.  Trust me it's not a fun experience.

Ms. Lilo marks too... although she doesn't life her leg. She's a real tomboy and loves to hunt, play rough, and roll in mud/grassclippings/dead animals. Whereas Rocky will come inside and hold up his muddy paws for me to wipe off and he would never roll in anything stinky!!

It's not weird that your female dog is marking, she's probably just asserting herself over your other dog. Whoever pees last wins (and kills the grass) :D

Can I have Rocky?
I too had the same question.  See the discussion I started back in 2010 http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/lifts-her-leg-to-pee?group...  Alma still does this.  I wonder if I could have "corrected" this behavior when she first started???  We love her even though but it does slow us down on walks.  I have taken up jogging twice a week now so on those days she has to keep up and can't mark.
I tell Callie when we're on an exercise walk vs being on what we call a "sniff"
My mom's 13 year old Westie marks on top of other's pee and has begun marking in our house when she visits.  We laughed uproariously when she was so anxious to mark over my DIL's lab that she ran under him while he was still peeing - yup, she got peed on.  My mom thought that the lab peed on the Westie - no the Westie ran under the lab!
