Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I see many of you listen like I expect my new pup to. At least at the start. Name's Gary. I'm new to the forum and to the doodle breed. My wife and I were looking for a support group I suppose you can call it for when we have questions. We get our pup Brut on Jan 29th. He's an F1 Goldendoodle. I had a Cairn Terrier as a kid and my wife has never had a dog. Right now we are just looking to get off to a good start. I'm looking for information on what to feed as a pup and adult. Where people get their toys and beds and training treats. Basically any and all information is welcome.
See ya round!

Hi Gary, your title made me laugh :D
I'm pretty new to doodlekisses but I have found so much help and reassurance to all my doodle questions here and people have been amazing and nice.
If you look through the different groups you will find many of your questions have already been answered. Like the food group, the puppy madness group, grooming group. There is an awesome post about the different foods in the food group.
My puppy Max is five months old. I feed him the acana large breed puppy food and he loves it. I like the Orejen treats as they are freeze dried meat with no additives or anything and Max loves them too.
I love the kong toys and I fill them with all natural peanut butter and then freeze them, also I just got Max a Starmark Treat Dispensing Chew Ball from amazon and he thinks it's awesome. He also really likes the toys from petsmart that have no stuffing in them. I did get him a few toys with stuffing in the beginning but he's a strong chewer and he's "killed" three toys already lol...so no more stuffed toys.
I use a clicker with Max and I also have a treat bag that I wear, and I find both really helpful with training him. There are many great training videos on utube. and this guy is my favourite.
I have potty bells that I made myself just because I couldn't find any around here.
Congrats on your new puppy. :)
Hi Gary!
There are some great groups here that you may want to join. These are three very popular ones:
Food group - http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/thefoodgroup - all the info. you want on food and treats
Puppy group - http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/puppymadness - good general puppy information and lots of other puppy parents!
Training group - http://www.doodlekisses.com/group/trainingmindsets - more specific info. about training
Also check the Grooming Group!
Our dog is 35-40 pounds now and she used the "puppy sized" kongs until she was fully grown and the kongs were destroyed. If he's a standard doodle then yes, I would replace the kong with a larger one has he gets bigger so you don't have to worry about it when you're not home. Luna was fine with the smaller ones, but she mostly slammed the kong on the ground to get the food out instead of chewing on it :p
Love the title, a surefire way to get everyone to read as myself and 44 others have demonstrated. :>)
Welcome to DK, you have found the best support group there is for doodles. You've come to a great place for info and advice and if you listen to the wealth of knowledge here you'll be fine.
When we got our doodle we had not had a dog in 25 years so we were clueless. I didn't find DK until Quincy was 9 mos old but he's managed to turn out fine in spite of that. I will say those first few months would have been easier if I had been lucky enough to find DK earlier.
'Like' But we would have all read no matter what the title was just because we are a curious lot anyway LOL
Ha ha! My husband says that same thing to me all the time. " Joanne, I'm not sure I follow you"
Many people turn their heads, like a dog, sideways, and I know what they are thinking but not saying, " Joanne, what the heck are you talking about?"
Actually, my comment had a typo so of course it did not make sense though, right!
Name should have been typed, Naaa

I get almost EVERYTHING from them. The prices are great, the shipping is fast, and everything arrives in perfect condition. Ever since buying from them, I refuse to pay chain pet store prices! Good luck with your little one- doodles are wonderful!
ha ha. good way to get all of us Curious pups to check out your thread
