Do rolled leather collars really help with neck matting?

Maggie got cut too short today and the groomer blamed it on her collar. She said when she cut the mats out around her collar it looked stupid and she had to take her body shorter. She's not naked, but she's definitely shorter than I wanted. 

And the groomer's last day was today. That's the second groomer I've lost in a year. And I almost had this one broken in! I guess we're on the search again. It really stinks. The one that's being recommended by facebook will have me driving 50 miles for grooming. I mean, I am considering doing the 17 hour round trip monthly for our original groomer... but 50 miles seems excessive for anyone else.

Yep, rolled leather collars will help with matting around the neck. All the show dogs wear them.

I ordered her a purple one off of Etsy that is coming from Ukraine. They have these cool little metal beads that have her name and phone number. I want identification on her! And you probably know how I feel about tags that dangle. I hope she likes it!

I wish you could see her. Next week will be a year that she's been here. And all the sudden she's decided that snuggling on the couch is okay. She'll lay her head on my arm and I'm in heaven. I've waited a long time for this.

If it is leather you ordered and it gets wet, the purple dye will rub off onto her hair.  Ned had a green rolled leather collar once - and a green neck because he used to run through the sprinklers....

We might have to pretend that we did it on purpose... I see lots of dogs on facebook with creative coloring ;)

It's not my thing. But I confess, that video that I've seen over and over of the doodle decked out like a zebra is cool. It must take some skill and a very patient dog to do that. Still, I wouldn't do it to mine.

That's different. Those photos of the professional grooming competition dogs (they are usually purebred Poodles) are artwork, IMO. But photos of people's pet dogs with poorly dyed blue mohawks or purple tails...not my thing either.

We agree! But it Maggie accidentally turns purple we might have to pretend we like it. Maybe I should have gone with brown. But purple was calling her name!

Brown would stain too so go big big or go home! A purple collar will be beautiful. If I go back to roller leather, I’d want purple!
