Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi Doodle lovers! I'm buying a Sheepadoodle puppy and am having difficulty deciding between two pups. I prefer the shaggy look as opposed to the poodle look in an adult dog. One of the pups appears to have a wavy coat that I'm thinking will be more shaggy when he grows up and the other one has a curlier coat that I'm thinking will end up being more poodle like. I'd like to get some of your opinions as to whether you think I'm correct in this evaluation? Thanks so much for your time!...Donna Lee

Awe!!!!  She's gorgeous!!!

Cocoa is adorable...I'd be very happy with a coat like that! Thanks so much for sharing! Here's another pic of the puppies so you can see their bodies better.
I'm on my iPad so posting the pic isn't working too well! Let me try again...

Here is your pic:

I'll throw a wrench in this discussion by saying I've had both fleece and a wool mix and ...

Well Fleece, you must groom constantly.  Wool is wash and wear. Let the curls go and not brush them. Just work with your fingers  :)     Most fight those curls but if you leave them be, they will mat a lot less.  Just sayin in support of all those beautiful curly-coated babies out there.

Temperament and Health is Everything. Coats are the easy part to manage.

Best wishes. Choose Wise and be happy.

Thanks so much...but WOW now what to do?!...maybe I should just flip a coin! LOL Hmmm...I'm thinking I need to ask her if she will hold those two for another week or two so we can go back and decide. So what's your take on these pups' coats...is one fleece and the other wool or somewhere in between?

Many confuse Curly always equals Wool. Not so at all.  Some straight coats are also wooley too!

Many curly coats are so soft.  It really is hard to tell.

My dog is curly but he has soft, fleece, curls and wooley curls. He has a combination coat

.

I own two sheepadoodles.  One is 5 years old, and the other will be turning 5 months old.  Their noses are very pink when born, they begin forming black dots until their nose turns solid black.  My 5 month old pup still has a pink spot left that is filling in.  As many on here have already said, they go through a coat change, sometimes several times.  Also color changes on them.  My 5 year old didn't start greying til she was 4 years old.  But like the labradoodle and goldendoodle they have high maintenance  coats.  Get your pup use to being brushed daily.  Here are my sheepadoodles, Pebbles is the adult, and Tony is sitting in the chair!

They're beautiful!
Omigosh...they are adorable! Thanks for sharing the pics and the info on their coat changes. So did either of them have coats that looked similar to either of the pups that I'm trying to decide upon? What would your best guess be on what type of coats they'll have as adults? I'm prepared to groom regularly but will probably keep a puppy cut during the warmer months.

What beautiful doodles!

I keep learning more and more...what a wonderful forum and source of information...thank you all! The puppy with the wavy coat has a silky soft feel to it whereas the curlier puppy's fur is still pretty soft but a bit coarser. Some of the black puppies had even coarser coats and quite a bit curlier. I guess you just never know for sure but I'm just trying to make the most educated guess as possible! Lol
