It seems lately I've had the very distinct feeling that Banjo is trying to send me telepathic messages.   What else could it be????   He walks over to where ever I happen to be sitting and will just stand there staring into my eyes.   It's impossible to ignore him.   I mean it's as though he's trying to bait me into a a staring contest!    If my mother were here I might be likely to yell out "Mommmmmmmmm he's staring at ME!!!!"      OK, I realize he is "just a dog" and he's probably not "into" staring contests.   But clearly he is trying to "speak" to me......trying to "tell" me something.   And being just "a human"....I'm just not getting it!!!!    I feel so incompetent!

It does seem that we spend a good bit of time trying to figure out what Banjo wants.    Sometimes he's very "direct" and other times you just have to be very "intuitive".   Two weeks ago I had put a tiny piece of  dehydrated liver treat (his all time favoritest, bestest treat in the world) on the windowsill over the kitchen sink after finding it in my pocket.   That evening as we sat watching television, Banjo wandered into the kitchen, laid down and started moaning.   WTD????   This was way out of character for him.   He always stays right where we are....so this raised concern with us....what could be wrong???? What could he want.....is he hunger???  There's water in his bowl....he's eaten plenty today....well, it took me a while and then he stood up and aimed his nose right at the treat on the windowsill.   Treat given.....happy dog wanders back into living room to re-join the pack.

Two nights ago we went upstairs to bed and Banjo refused to come up.   After much coaxing he finally came up but would not settle down.   Banjo is much like DH...a creature of habit for sure....and this was not part of his routine.   Now what?   We were immediately concerned as we'd already fretted that he hadn't done his usual "2 poops" that day and only done one...so he must need to go outside....so DH took him outside.....nothing....no go!    Coaxing him back up to the bedroom and tell him to lay down...lights off...and shortly thereafter we hear the pacing....and then he's by the door....moaning.   What do we do???   I convince DH to just let him out .... maybe he's decided he wants to sleep downstairs...he's a big boy now....maybe he wants his privacy.    Now I'm laying in bed at full alert listening for his footsteps.   Finally I can't stand it any longer and get up to see what he's doing.

I look by the front door, he's not there.   Check the living room, he's not there.   Walk into the kitchen...he's standing there in full darkness.....staring at the window!    OMD.....I'd left another crumb of a liver treat there earlier that day!    I think, he thought if he stood there and stared at it long enough it would come to him....and sure enough it did!!!!!     Once he got the treat it was upstairs to bed for both of us.    We're still laughing.   : )

Camus seems to have taken this method to a higher level. I get the stare, the head in lap stare but no super stares. Hilarious!

I managed to snap a photo at work of Camus telling me it was time to go, missed the direct stare but you can get an idea of his persistence.  My dear 82 lb doodle is in my lap between me and the computer screen!

Hahaha!!!!   Silly Doodle!

That's right, Camus, you tell mom it's time to go home! Christine, how nice that he is concerned about your working too hard!

Very concerned!

I can't even imagine Murph in my lap....this is too funny Christine.

He likes to get his point across and if that means getting in my lap he does not hesitate! But, it is a bit much.

Ha ha...they do get their way don't they.

I love this story, it reminds me so much of Daisy. She does the same thing if we take a squeaky away from her after we let her play for a while, you know from a stuffy. Usually she gets "that's enough" and one of us will have it in our pocket. She's fine until the next morning when she spots it on the dresser (after we change into PJ's we leave it on there) she then proceeds to do the lay down moan staring at the dresser until we give in.

Doods are so smart!

Lisa,  They ARE so smart!     You gotta love that moan!

Oh Carol, this is so true!  You know that song "Every move you make, every breath you take, I'll be watching you" (or something like that).....that's what I feel like with my guys.  I really believe that they have studied my body language and facial expressions to the point that they now know me better than I know myself.  They certainly can predict where I'm going and what I'm doing next.  They have perfected "telepathic communication" to the level of a science.  It's amazing when you think about it.  They are smart and special for sure.

For sure Jane.   One of my favorite (always makes me laugh moments) is when I finish up on my lap top and close the cover....no matter how asleep Banjo seems to be...the sound of the closing cover brings him QUICKLY to his feet with a look of expectant anticipation for something wonderful to happen.   It's the cutest thing!

OMD, I have worked very hard on the silent laptop closure and sometimes I get away with it : )
