It seems lately I've had the very distinct feeling that Banjo is trying to send me telepathic messages.   What else could it be????   He walks over to where ever I happen to be sitting and will just stand there staring into my eyes.   It's impossible to ignore him.   I mean it's as though he's trying to bait me into a a staring contest!    If my mother were here I might be likely to yell out "Mommmmmmmmm he's staring at ME!!!!"      OK, I realize he is "just a dog" and he's probably not "into" staring contests.   But clearly he is trying to "speak" to me......trying to "tell" me something.   And being just "a human"....I'm just not getting it!!!!    I feel so incompetent!

It does seem that we spend a good bit of time trying to figure out what Banjo wants.    Sometimes he's very "direct" and other times you just have to be very "intuitive".   Two weeks ago I had put a tiny piece of  dehydrated liver treat (his all time favoritest, bestest treat in the world) on the windowsill over the kitchen sink after finding it in my pocket.   That evening as we sat watching television, Banjo wandered into the kitchen, laid down and started moaning.   WTD????   This was way out of character for him.   He always stays right where we are....so this raised concern with us....what could be wrong???? What could he want.....is he hunger???  There's water in his bowl....he's eaten plenty today....well, it took me a while and then he stood up and aimed his nose right at the treat on the windowsill.   Treat given.....happy dog wanders back into living room to re-join the pack.

Two nights ago we went upstairs to bed and Banjo refused to come up.   After much coaxing he finally came up but would not settle down.   Banjo is much like DH...a creature of habit for sure....and this was not part of his routine.   Now what?   We were immediately concerned as we'd already fretted that he hadn't done his usual "2 poops" that day and only done one...so he must need to go outside....so DH took him outside.....nothing....no go!    Coaxing him back up to the bedroom and tell him to lay down...lights off...and shortly thereafter we hear the pacing....and then he's by the door....moaning.   What do we do???   I convince DH to just let him out .... maybe he's decided he wants to sleep downstairs...he's a big boy now....maybe he wants his privacy.    Now I'm laying in bed at full alert listening for his footsteps.   Finally I can't stand it any longer and get up to see what he's doing.

I look by the front door, he's not there.   Check the living room, he's not there.   Walk into the kitchen...he's standing there in full darkness.....staring at the window!    OMD.....I'd left another crumb of a liver treat there earlier that day!    I think, he thought if he stood there and stared at it long enough it would come to him....and sure enough it did!!!!!     Once he got the treat it was upstairs to bed for both of us.    We're still laughing.   : )

Mine don't either.

Neither of mine care where they puke either. I have had dogs that would only puke outside, on the hardwood or tile floors, never the carpet. No so with these two.

Banjo is a very smart guy.  He knows exactly what he wants and he is determined to train you to give it to him.  You are quite a slow learner though.  Perhaps if you put a few more treats on the kitchen windowsill, you will get  trained.  Hopefully, you will finally learn to give the treat directly to him w/o having to set it on the windowsill first.

This sounds a lot like Achilles, one track mind. It takes me awhile to figure it out too. It also usually involves food. He stands guard day or night.
