He is a mellow dog inside, but when outside he loves to run, play, and investigate, so the campus environment is perfect for him. We take at least one break during the day and there a a lot of areas where he can run, meet up with another dog or just roll in the grass and the students love him. When I first got him it was thought he was ~ one year, but about 2 months later he went through a major coat change and was still growing, so I think he was probably about 9 months. He is now 3, 1 1/2 inches taller and gained 23 lbs. He was also afraid of people, but no longer. He got his therapy at work! In the two plus years that he has been going to work with me there has been only one mishap. He found a pen on the floor and before I knew it I had a blue dog! He is my velcro dog so even at work he follows me everywhere, to the business office, bookstore, coffee kiosk, and yes to the bathroom (which has taken a few people by surprise),
Oh jeeze he is the cutest!!! You're lucky he's mellow inside! I'm so worried that we are going to get a goldendoodle who is so hyper that we can't take him to work like we plan on doing! Our breeder is doing temperament testing though, so we are going to try to get a mellow pup!
Nicole, you should also keep in mind that the more exercise your pup gets, the mellower (read: tired) he will be.
Good point!
Becka is right on here! Exercise is the key to everyone's well-being/sanity!
Thanks Nicole. I know two other people, one professor and one postdoc, that bring young pups to work. And, young no matter what translates into active! However, they have made it work with a combination of exercise and a crate in the office.
I wonder how many times the puppy goes into the crate during the day at the office? This is new to me, so sorry for the lame questions!
She was not in the crate for long periods
I am so thankful that I have been able to have him with me at work. He would not have done well being left at home, but when I adopted him I already knew there would be no problem with work. I use to bring Nietzsche to work and he use to regurgitate his food a minimum of 2x daily (usually in an office other than mine), but everyone loved him. So I knew that Camus would be welcome. I work for a very nice and understanding professor. He does not even mind the dog hair that floats down the hall or gathers under his desk!
Yes, I am very, very lucky.
