Advise needed... My 7-month-old doodle has never really gotten a full hair cut. She has only been bathed, and trimmed around the eye and had a sanitary places. She is has an appointment with the groomer in two weeks. I have heard it is good to do a puppy trim so the new coat can come in smoothly. She has only had two mats so far and seems to have a really manageable coat. Her hair is about 4 inches long. What should I do? Trim the whole coat? If so, how much? Thanks in advance for feedback!

Here is a picture of Maizy this morning... my little muppet!

Thank you!! I love Schulz (great name too!) Let me know how the hair cut goes!!

Maizy is too cute!  I've pretty much done the same thing as you with Bentley because we love the shaggy look and we weren't having problems with matting, so we just brought him in for face and sanitary trims. He just turned 7 months and once we realized his hair was about 5 inches long, we decided it was time for a trim.  I was scared to bring him to anyone who didn't do a scissor cut, because I've seen so many shaved pictures on DK.  After calling around to a couple of places and realizing how expensive it was, my fiance and I decided to buy a pair of shears and do it ourselves.  We were quite surprised how well it came out and Bentley loved being pampered.  he just laid there for a good 30 minutes.  We just started trimming about 2 inches everywhere.  The good thing about the curly/shaggy look is that the haircut doesn't have to be perfect. :-) We love him with the shorter hair because it's so much softer.  As you can see, he wasn't enjoying it at all.  haha!  Good luck with Maizy!
