Does anyone up in the San Jose, Redwood City, Santa Cruz, Campbell, Prunedale or surrounding area know of a REALLY, REALLY good place to leave your beloved pup when you need to leave and can't take them with you? I am asking for my daughter who live in San Jose. Down here in San Diego I found a fantastic Dog Ranch in the backcountry hills where I take Gracie Doodle. I have photos of her stay posted on my page. My daughter would like to find something like that or else, someone who would take Luna (Rhodesian Ridgeback) into their home for a stay. We are not interested in any boarding where she sits in a kennel or run all day and gets a few 15 minute outings on a postage size piece of grass or astroturf!!! That is what I see everywhere I go. Since I know how all of us Doodle people care about our babies, I figured you all would be the best people to go to for good recommendations!! Thanks for your help! Nancie and Gracie Doodle
I am not in CA, but Peri goes to Dogtopia for daycare and boarding. They are a franchise and I looked it up and there is one about 30 minutes from San Jose in Pleasanton. It is not a place where they run around outside all day free (most locations are closer to cities), but they are not in kennels except during their lunch "naptime" from 12-2 daily and at night. They go outside at least every hour and have pools in the back for them to play in. Peri plays alllll day long and absolutely loves it. She is in daycare right now. I just checked out what Peri is up to and she just slid down a slide in the main room. HA!
We have also boarded her there for long weekends. She comes home happy and tired. They have webcams and you can watch them at any time. It goes blank at night and during naptime. Otherwise, they are hangin' with friends.
Just a thought in case you get really stuck! The rooms are big and open - no fencing or anything like that. Here is a photo of her a dogtopia staff member sent to me:
Wow, that sounds perfect. AND I like the idea of the webcam to watch them. I would love to have something in my area like that. I commend you for not leaving your dood in a "kennel". I made that mistake when Lucy was 5 months old, when I was STUPID, and she still paces at times in a circle and that was one of the results of that tramatic experiance. I hope you find a great place. Good Luck

Hi - I take Teddy to the Dog House Inn in Gilroy. They are terrific and I am very picky about where I leave him! I have a friend who lives in Sunnyvale and takes her Giant Schnauzers there too because they can handle them, and actually work with them while they are there. My neighbors also use them. Good luck!
