Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Noah the Golden doodle has been sick, losing weight.  He went for an ultrasound yesterday, and they told me that a portion of his small intestine is se3verely inflamed.  The vet said that this "is seen in his breed."  Has anyone else ever heard of this?  Tomorrow he is seeing a gastroe3nterologist, and will likely have surgery.  Please send healing thoughts.  I love this sweet, goofy boy so much, and cannot bear the idea of something happening to him.  I, and my whole family, need him!

Dogs apparently can get Crohn's disease. I would guess it depends on what type of pathology they see microscopically, which is how they usually classify inflammatory bowel diseases.

Thank you for the update. Noah's been in my thoughts all day. It does seem that there is one form of IBD that is very similar to human Crohn's Disease. My reading says that form is rare but it does sound similar to what you've described. Stay strong. Sending more prayers that Noah comes through this and has a long happy life ahead of him with you and your family. These special dogs are like our children some days -- our best friends, on others. This is why we understand the pain and the fear when anyone's doodle is sick and it's why we care so much. ((Hugs)) to you!

I have been following your posts and am grateful for the update. Praying Noah recovers well and that his condition goes into remission quickly. May you be cheered by having such a competent and pro-active vet caring for him.
