Does anyone know if a reputable breeder somewhere in California?

I would love to get an F1B male goldendoodle soon to add to our family.

We live in San Francisco and would like to visit the breeder.

Thank you!

Hi Patrick, welcome to DK. Breeder recommendations, referrals, and reviews are not permitted here in the open forums. But people can private message you if you accept a "friend" request from them.

Here is a guide on what to look for in a breeder.

These are the absolute minimum standards you should require. If anyone can't measure up to these standards, walk away. I personally would also walk away from any breeder  whose health warranty is dependent on using a certain brand of food or vitamins, or who does all of her own vetting and does not have vet records for the dogs. I would also not even consider any breeder who does not let you visit the premises and meet the mother if not both parents.

IMO, personal recommendations don't mean much. Everybody loves their dog and thinks he/she is wonderful, so they often think their breeder is, too. I have seen people recommend known puppy brokers selling puppy mill dogs on-line.

There are doodle breeders in the central Valley and along the central coast - some good and some puppy mills.  Do your research.

I agree. It took my nearly 2 months of researching to find a good breeder here in California. MMost of the ones I ran across were either puppy mills or had outrageous stipulations on their health guarantee. And the good ones I found had waiting lists. I decided to jump on a breeder that I thought was top-notch and got place on the waiting g list. Picked my baby up yesterday!

I'm sooo glad you're looking at reputable breeders and I know it's really hard to figure it all out.  Karen gave you some really good information in what to look for in a breeder.  Please make sure that whatever breeder you choose does the necessary health testing of the parents.  My last doodle did not have that and she died at the age of five, devastating us!  We knew that our next doodle would come from a breeder that did all of the testing and of course bred her dogs for the best temperament!  Do a lot of research and when you feel that you have narrowed down some reputable breeders, post them here and people can private message you with their thoughts and experiences and research!  I know it's a very hard process, but I can guarantee that once you find a breeder that meets all the requirements, you will feel so secure in purchasing your pup and know that you have done everything possible to have a very long relationship with your doodle!  Good luck!
