Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I know many of you are on Facebook and the Goldendoodle group, but for those who might of missed it or those who aren't on there, there was a posting this morning about a very young (4-5 months I believe) young Doodle that died after spending 4th of July week-end at a Daycare/kennel facility. Ringo came home not himself and the parents were asking if this was normal or not, was he just mad at them or what. Then he started throwing up and they got him to a Vet the same day. They were later told to get him to an ER hospital and he died 5 mins after arriving. Heartbreaking for this young family! They suspect pneumonia. I'm not sure how quickly that comes on, or if there were signs missed at the Kennel or what. However, with the post earlier this week on here about the sudden unexplained deaths and now this one, I urge everyone if you have strange symptoms, don't waste your time getting on here to ask for advice ... go with your gut, if something isn't right, get them to a VET NOW!
While there is a lot of knowledge here, sometimes there isn't time to wait for answers.

Very sad. I agree about getting them to the vet and following your instincts.
That's just horrible! I'm terrified to leave the boys at a kennel and that's why I have not been on vacation without them ever since we got Monty. I'm also thankful that my DH is home over the summer since that way no doggie daycare is needed. I would be really worried about leaving them in one of our daycares the whole day in this heat.
We haven't been away for longer than two nights either since we got Riley and my daughter stayed over. I am against boarding kennels as I lost my own dog years ago when the kennels went on fire. I am looking for a pet sitter at the moment as we are planning a holiday in 2014 together without the boys. :) I think good kennels are terrific but are often hard to find.
Heartbreaking...
So horrible,,I was very upset after reading the FB post. Such a sweet little puppy.
This is so strange. I wonder if all of these deaths are related. Scary to think that there really isn't any way to protect from this freak occurrences. A coworker told me about how ill his 6 month of German Shepard became and he is currently going through tests to find out what's going on. Violent vomiting and diarrhea. After 3 hours at the emergency vet they sent him home saying he just has some type of viral infection and should be back to normal in a few days. I sure hope he doesn't fall victim to whatever is going on either!
Heartbreaking !
