I use mine all the time. I am not sure if Leo loves it or not but he goes on it. He does only 10 minutes but at least it is 10 more minutes of excercise than if he hadn't. I live in WNY & our weather isn't exactly the best for everyday walks, so now if I miss one he still gets his walk.
I was able to stradle him while the treadmill was going, my feet were on the sides not moving & I held the leash. Gradually I go off, now I hold the lease in front of the treadmill loosly and he does his workout. I took only about 2 times before he got the hang of it. The pace started out fast enough that he could not just walk off ( which is pretty fast) now I set the machine for a 4 to 5 mile an hour pace, sometimes higher and he just runs....My husband is glad someone is using the treadmill again! Treadmills aren't just for hanging clothes...
We're just starting the process. We have a dog that is nervous about new things anyway, so we're taking our time getting him used to the treadmill without it on. We're using treats to lure him to the treadmill and to stand on the treadmill. We're then luring him into what will be the walking position. After we can get him into those positions without treats (in a few weeks), we'll hold him in the room while turning it on. And use treats if he stays or moves toward the treadmill. Then we'll get him to be next to it and turn it on (treats). Finally we'll have him on the treadmill with a lead and one of us having him between our legs and turn it on. We'll see how it goes.
