Doodle Poo on High Pile Area Rug *not for weak stomachs

I have one of those high pile shaggy area rugs in my living room, which I stupidly bought when a certain female doodle pooped all over the other one I had. This is my second rug since Sophie and Winnie came into my life. I need something to dampen the sound of them playing in the living room in order to save the sanity of the nieghbour below me, so I need the rug.

Anyway, I came home to poop on the rug. Sophie has irritable bowel (my diagnosis) and I guess she has gotten into something.

Any suggestions for cleaning doodle poop out of a shag rug? It's not as easy as the old flat one. The more I wipe the more the poop just gets into the fibres.

I have a dinner date tonight and need to hurry up and get this cleaned up. Thank goodness the doodles have a sitter for the evening!

p.s. why do I feel like I am always writing discussions about poo??

This is not something I've had to do but here is my solution. Put a thick towel underneath the rug  and really staturate the area you are trying to clean, then blot with another towel to soak up the moisture that is left behind. You may need a lot of water but it should work. The offending material will usually be washed through to the towel below. I've used this method on clothes when I have been trying to get stains out and it works well without having to wash the whole thing. Good luck and you may not want to bring this up on your date. :>) PS. I wouldn't use my good towels. :>)

YES....you definitely need the Spot Bot, especially with a dog with IBS.  It has saved my rugs and my sanity.  For tonight I'd follow Donna's suggestion.  Just get as much of it up as you can and you can steam clean it later.  If your date will be coming in try dimming the lights and lighting lots of scented candles.  Good luck, and fill us in on all the details at Yappy Hour.
