Doodle Poo on High Pile Area Rug *not for weak stomachs

I have one of those high pile shaggy area rugs in my living room, which I stupidly bought when a certain female doodle pooped all over the other one I had. This is my second rug since Sophie and Winnie came into my life. I need something to dampen the sound of them playing in the living room in order to save the sanity of the nieghbour below me, so I need the rug.

Anyway, I came home to poop on the rug. Sophie has irritable bowel (my diagnosis) and I guess she has gotten into something.

Any suggestions for cleaning doodle poop out of a shag rug? It's not as easy as the old flat one. The more I wipe the more the poop just gets into the fibres.

I have a dinner date tonight and need to hurry up and get this cleaned up. Thank goodness the doodles have a sitter for the evening!

p.s. why do I feel like I am always writing discussions about poo??

Thanks Bonnie. Sophie ended up having an accident at the sitters place. At home she always asks to go out, but I guess she didn't know how there. The sitter was very gracious about it. She's a dog owner too so she knows what it's like.

 

I really should look into that spot bot.

I have had this very problem in the past. Diligent scrubbing with pet stain removers, after cleaning up what you can with tons of disposable towels first, seems to do the trick. And it removes odor too.

Sometimes all it needs is a good old fashioned soak in Resolve... but I'm fresh out.

I have a off white high pile wool shag rug too... but its rolled up and in the basement !!!  I love the look of high pile shag but soooo diffifult to keep clean and vacuum.  Depending on what color it is.... I have used a mixture of peroxide, vinegar and dish detergent... it worked wonders on my couch that Oliver peed on when he was a baby.  No smell, no stain.  I have learned that the more you rub the more it gets into the fibers... blot, blot, blot !!!  I hope the water got it out.   I hope you had a nice dinner date :)

That sounds like an interesting mixture. Do you mix all three together? what are the quantities of each?

 

I think the water helped. I did a lot of blotting too.

 

Why do they have to target our nice rugs? Couldn't she have used the $5 matt in the kitchen? or the grimy old front door shoe matt? sheesh. I guess doodles have style, and not just any old rug will do for an urgent poop. humph.
