I think I'm beginning to learn that I may be just a little Doodle Spoiled! Lucy and Sophie were by no means angels, but I'm seeing something with Miss AnnaBelle that I did not have to deal with with either Lucy or Sophie and that is the trail of water from the water bowl. I never had an issue with this at all. Not even a drop of water on the floors with Lucy or Sophie. I have had fosters that were an issue, but Miss AnnaBelle, Oh My Goodness. She is like a Swiffer wet mop and someone just keep pushing the spray button. I could wait till she has a drink and then I could mop the kitchen floor. She can drop water clear into the next room. It has become a standing joke to say, Oh, AnnaBelle had a drink, as you are getting out the paper towels to clean up the floor. I'm trying to figure out what it is? Why is it so bad with her and never an issue with Lucy and Sophie. They all have beards. Does it have something to do with the hair type? Or is AnnaBelle sticking her face deeper? or ? With one of my fosters I just kept a towel laying there and when I would hear him drinking I would go over and wipe off his face. Miss AnnaBelle caught on to the papertowel and what it was for after the first time and any time she sees a paper towel in my hand she takes off in the other direction. (Obviouslly that is a training issue and we will get there). I'm just curious why some dribble none and others dribble everywhere? Any thoughts?

Peri did this as a pup. Are you sure Annabelle isn't pawing the water at all? We found that Peri was sneaking away and doing it - she stopped after a few months - it drove us crazy.
Sophie used to like to dig in her water bowl. No, I've stood there and watched AnnaBelle and then tried to catch her to wipe her face as she runs off and leaves her little trail.
Willow is Ms. Niagara Falls from day 1. We have a towel hanging next to her water bowl and as soon as we hear her drinking, we are ready with the towel in hand. She even waits for us to come and wipe off her chin. :) Not only she dribbles all over the floor, she also leans left when she drinks and leaves a pool of water on the floor next to the water bowl, so we have a thick absorbent pad underneath it. We asked a groomer once and her answer was, some dogs, especially big breeds, are just sloppy drinkers. I am surprised that Lucy and Sophie didn't/doesn't leave a drop on the floor! :)
lol Joanne. What you are rembering is me wiping slobber off of Sophie's face because whenever she got around a lot of other dogs she was worse then a mastiff with slobber coming off of her chin. If it were just water I wouldn't have cared, particularly at a dog park. But that slobber I have to admit was yucky. I think it was a nervous thing with her around a lot of other dogs. Lucy never did it, but I noticed last week-end we took them to a dog event and Lucy was doing it but not to the same degree as Sophie. I think it was because we haven't been to any events in quite a while and maybe she was a little nervous being back out there again.
Luna has NO beard and still manages to drip water all over. :p
I think she's just a messy drinker!
I wonder if it has anything to do with the wooliness of the beard/coat, or lack thereof? Just like AnnaBelle, JD drips water all over the floors after he's had a drink; my poodles never did. JD's hair is straight, the poodles' coats were very curly & woolly. Poodle coats repel water to a certain extent, so I think it was that their beards didn't absorb the water the way JD's does. It seems to me that Annabelle's coat is straighter at this point than L & S's. maybe that's part of it?
This was a thought that I was wondering about this morning. This could very well play a roll in it.
Haley's beard doesn't drip water when he drinks. His water bowl is less than 6.5 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep. I don't think his beard really gets in the water. However, when he comes in from his morning walk if there is heavy dew he drips water from his beard!
