Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have 2 doodles. Ozzy 85lbs and Zoey 20lbs both are 4 years old. They are really wacky doodles like I am sure you all know and love. They are friendly outgoing not a problem only goofy at times. I also have the "doodlenot" for those that know me. Woody is soon to be 17 and health is failing. Ozzy and Zoey have stopped playing they are acting spooked - they run up to my bed ( never would they do that if people were downstairs) They shake and I am really starting to worry. It seems that are scared to death of something. Having an 85lb doodle under your feet at all times is an accident (for me) waiting to happen. Any thoughts or ideas please HELP. Not sure what to do. Could it be that they sense something wrong with the older dog?????
Thanks

Wow, that is interesting, dogs are very intuitive. I'll be interested to see if they are better now. Maybe they felt something and that is why the went upstairs where they possibly couldn't feel it as much. I hope they are better now it is worrying to see our babies acting different and afraid.
Wow! I would certainly not be surprised. Can't wait for an update.
Hi, Marianne....from your Doodle neighbors across the river. We are glad that you are all OK. And WOW if what was causing Ozzy's and Zoey's temperments was that earthquake, that is AMAZING!!!!! What incredible Doodles! We got our power back before the weekend and thank God before the real cold temps. Your Doodles sound like Barometers just like our Olivia. She always lets us know when something is about to happen weather wise. She had a seizure during the ice storm two winters ago and a seizure during hurricane Irene. She was not so bad with Sandy but we have started using the Thundercoat which seems to help somewhat. When I first read your post, I immediately thought it may have been your beautiful "Doodlenot" who may not be feeling well and Ozzy and Zoey sense that! I sure hope that it was the earthquate and that there are no more tremors. Ringwood is not so far away from us! Let's hope and pray that the Noreaster does not hit NJ on Wednesday. So good to hear from you!!!!!!!
Thanks Gail sorry to hear your doodle has seizures when we have bad weather. We only lost power for about 12 hours and most of that time we were sleeping. My doodlenot is hanging in there but, we do know it is only a matter of time. Very sad but, he is going to be 17 soon so he had a great life.
Well everyone my doodles are back to normal for a doodle that is, not sure what caused this but it just may have been the earthquake. I know doodles are smart but, this was crazy. Out for their walk and running around the yard after each other and catching the balls, not going up to the bedrooms and not shaking anymore. Thanks everyone I pray this does not happen again.
Earthquakes definitely can trigger odd behavior in dogs. I live in CA. None of mine have given me a clue one is coming, but there are always news stories about dogs reacting before earthquakes.
Bonnie my brother live in California and I spend lot of time there. I told my husband that the last time I saw a dog act like mine were acting was my brothers dog before an earthquake. We just laughed it off as we do not usually have them here. This morning when my husband woke up and heard about the earthquake and then saw that the doodle were back to normal he was just amazed. I am just glad that they are back to normal and no damage in the earthquake. Now another storm to hit us on Wednesday, lets see what they do. Again thank you to everyone.
I'm betting it was the earthquake that happened in NJ...last night?
Hi Sharon - that is going to be my guess too. Thank you for your help
