Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I woke up this morning and noticed my doodle's eyes looked swollen and teary. She keeps rubbing them like they are itchy. Has anyone ever experienced this? I can't think of anything new that she has encountered recently.

It that contagious to other animals? Like pink eye is to humans?
Just made an appointment for her, she looks miserable. Thanks for your advice.
Good. The drops work quickly but do finish the course.
I'm glad you're bringing her to the vet. Please let us know what they find.
Michelle ~ Keep us posted. I would think Chloe will be feeling so much better after she is treated.
Took Chloe into the vet and he noticed right away how swollen her face looked. He said he sees this a lot in the winter and said she had the classic signs of a spider bite. She probably saw it crawling on the floor and ate it. He gave her a shot of Benadryl and steroid and some pills (Temaril). Already an hour after the shot, her eyes are more open and she seems more alert. Anyone else experience that before?
Michelle, I was just about to suggest that maybe she was bitten by a spider, and then I saw your update. This happened to Wally about four months ago. A little while after he went out for his final pee of the night, I noticed that one of his eyes was swollen; then, that whole side of his face swelled up. I couldn't figure out what it was, but I knew that something was seriously wrong. We drove straight to the emergency vet, who immediately thought that it was a bite from a spider. Wally was given a shot of Benadryl, too, and something else (which I have forgotten). After a couple of hours, the swelling began to recede and he began to act like he felt better. I hope that Chloe continues to improve.
Wow....who would have guessed???? Glad she seems to be improving!
