Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are happy to be hosting 2.5 year old Mylie doodle while her parents are on vacation for a week.  She and Gavin get along really well together; both playful and energetic; neither is aggressive or territorial.  I have never had two dogs living together before, so I am hoping that you all can give me some tips to ensure that things go smoothly.  Mylie does not have any major behaviour problems that I know of (except for counter surfingJ).  I am wondering about keeping them separate from each other when we are at work.  I don’t want two 65lb doodles wrestling and running around the house without supervision.  Neither one uses a crate anymore, so I was going to use baby gates.  Any feedback about managing this temporary merger would be greatly appreciated.

I spoke to my friend today. She says Mylie is a total angel in the house and doesn't touch a thing (except if food is left out). So we will have to figure out the gazer vs the food woofer thing. I am sure if I add some yogurt or a spot of canned food to Gavin's dish, he will eat when we want him to as long as he has been exercised. Likewise Gavin is a complete gentleman and has free access inside without any mis-steps. We are getting Mylie Friday after work, so we will have some time to work things out before I leave them alone on Saturday night (dinner outing for the humans :) I am feeling more confident that after playing outside, they will crash inside. She says that Mylie is not the least bit anxious so it may be an easy ride. I gotta tell ya, I can't wait to walk my little doodle pack!! I am thankful for everyones input
So glad that you got a chance to speak to your friend...
I know that is so helpful!
It's great that you'll have some time to work things out before you have to leave them alone on Saturday.
I mean...Humans deserve to go out and have some fun by themselves sometimes...don't you think?? Lol...
Taking a Nice Loooong Walk...sounds like just the thing to do!!
Get them some good exercise and tire them out...the "Precious Little Ones"!! (smile)
It sounds like everything will go well...
I'm sure you'll have fun...and also have some "Interestering" stories to share...(smile)
Sasha and I can't wait to hear all about it...
