Wondering if this is normal…Claire's nose has been dry and seems to be peeling a little.  Her nose is normally black and it has turned a grayish color up close to where her fur is.  Her nose is dry and appears to be peeling a little.  We live in Georgia and it it not that cold here.  She is not outside for any extended period of time.  It does not seem to bother her.  She does not scratch or rub it.  Has anyone else had this issue?  Thanks!

It may be nothing, but it also sounds a lot like Discoid lupus erythematosus.

You may want to have the vet take a look.

I will keep an eye on it.  Thanks for the advice!

Are ther ulceration a? If not I'd just watch it. If there are ulceration a I'do have the vet check it out.

Her nose could be dry to due to low humidity in your house, which generally happens over the winter due to indoor heating.  Is you skin dry?  Also the nose can loose colour due to lack of sunshine (also termed snow nose).  Humidify your house a bit and see if that helps.  If not, get the vet to check.

Yes, my house is dry for the heat.  I will see about adding humidity.  That would be good for all of us!  :)

Our Golden's nose would turn from black to brown during the winter months in Texas. It never peeled tho. His Mom, at a much older age, did develop a cancer on her nose and it did change color as well. Don't mean to scare you, but it may be worth a Vet look-see.

It's the greyish color that is most unusual. Their noses do often change color and get lighter, but usually some shade of brown or rose, and they don't peel.
