Quincy has dry paw pads and I was wondering if anyone can recommend a lotion or salve. We have hardwood floors in the house that he slides on as well. We live in NY and so have snow and ice outside

We use Musher's Secret in the really cold weather....it helps.
We use Bag Balm (available at the TSC). I also use it on my own hands. Two nights ago I slathered it on my hands and went to bed with socks on them. My skin is so dry its cracking right now!
I use Naturvet Tender Foot foot pad & elbow cream for Camus' elbows and apply to his paw pads when they look dry (we live in Southern California/mild weather). His elbows are no longer inflamed and the fur is growing back. This is the first cream that has produced positive results for Camus.
What's with the elbows, Christine? I've noticed Monty's skin on the elbows is more pink than the rest of his body (although no fur is missing). Is it from how they "smack" themselves on the floor to lay down?
Jarka, I'm sure it's a contributing factor, but Camus' elbows were raw when I first got him and would get to the point of bleeding. I think in his case it is more than just the way he lays down. The cream I'm using is working wonders, at least so far. However, I do keep them covered in addition to using the cream. I gave up on trying to determine the cause.
Interesting. I'm glad it's working for Camus. Monty's paws are just so horribly dry and rough, especially over the winter. He has a history of his dew claw pad cracking on his right leg, and it seems that Musher's Secret does not work for that. I'm ordering the cream you are using right now. Thank for the tip.
I think you will like it. It is not greasy and it does moisturize and soothe.
I have wondered this, too, so will be happy to see the responses.
I find Quincy slides around a lot on our wood floor when his paws need the hair trimmed between the pads. If the slipping and sliding is a big problem, use kids sock with the anti slip bottoms. I use Muttluks paw protection for the snow but don't use it inside unless you like to clean up greasy marks on your floors. :>)
I use Musher's Secret to protect the paws from snow and ice, but I don't think it moisturizes the pads (it's some sort of natural vax). I'll try the Bag Balm or the Naturvet Tender Foot foot pad & elbow cream for dryness.
