Eye infection

Hi everyone, I think that Sophie might have an eye infection. I'm not sure how it all started but I think Sophie may have gotten a little cut when she was getting groomed. My parents and I thought it was just a minor cut and it will heal by its self but now it seems to got a lot worse. She is itching her eye like crazy and now her other eye is infected! Last night we boiled a little bit of water and put a tea bag in and waited for it to cool off then put it on her eyes, it seemed to helped her with the discomfort. This morning didn't seem to get any better so we are going to take her to the vet and see what we can do for her!

Did anybody ever dealt with this kind of experience?

It's doubtful this started from a cut, as her other eye would not be affected. She may have conjunctivitis; if so, she does need to see a vet & be treated.

Please keep us posted on what the vet says.

Karen took the words right out of my mouth..... Groomers cut wouldn't effect the other eye. Someone else posted withinn the last few days, of a possible case of " pink eye" in their dog.

Thank you! Yes, We took Sophie to the vet and she has conjunctivitis. She is taking some stuff to help make her feel better! I will keep you all posted on her eye infection :)

I'm glad she's being treated, hope it clears up soon.

If this started shortly after a grooming, you might mention it to the groomer. It's possible that she got it from grooming tools that had been used on another dog who had conjunctivitis, since it's highly contagious. No way to be sure, but just a thought.
