F1 explanation

I feel I should know this but can someone explain the various types of breeding combinations of doodles in general.

I just read an explanation on some breeder's site  that was as confusing as ever.  I think the real problem is when you breed back to the parent breed (past that f1b) or breed doodles of differing generations or back to an f1b, the explanation gets convoluted.

But it sure is fun when we try!

You may not call it F3 or F4 or whatever, but it is nice to know how far down the chain your dog is - even if it is just for fun.
