Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have been searching for the perfect goldendoodle for our family and finally found a breeder that I really love. They only thing is...her doodles are half golden retriever (dad) and half F1B goldendoodle. She says they are about 60% golden and 40% poodle. This is their first doodle litter and the pups are adorable and I am almost ready to commit to one of them. I had my heart set on F1 50/50 for a long time and was only searching for those but It has been hard to find exactly what I want in the time frame I'm looking for. Now that I've found these I might just go with it. What do you all think about this mix? Any pictures of adults? I've found a few online but not that many. We don't have allergies in the family although I would like a dog that doesn't shed a ton. I'm sure whatever we end up with I will love but so hard to make a final decision!

Thanks!

Heard back from my breeder....Teddy's mom Parker is an F1; Parker's parents were a Golden and a Toy Poodle.

TeddyToyDoodle, F1b means the offspring of a first generation doodle bred back to the parent breed - hopefully a poodle and not a retriever.  It has nothing to do with size.

OK.....I think....but Teddy is an F1b Toy by my calc, right ?

You are correct in that Teddy's mom would be an F1.   If Teddy's dad was a poodle, then Teddy is  an F1b. According to GANA (Goldendoodle Association of North America), these are goldendoodle sizes:

Sizes
Petite range: Height: below 14 inches, typically 25 lbs. or less

Miniature range: Height: over 14 but under 17 inches (35cm to 42cm) at wither, typically 26-35 lbs.
Medium range: Height: over 17 but under 21 inches (43cm to 52cm) at wither, typically 36-50 lbs.
Standard range: Height: over 21 inches (53cm to 63cm) at wither, typically 51 or more lbs.
