Since yesterday's adventure with the lost tags I realized I needed a better method of securing them. The tags were discovered, thankfully, in the back room at Petco. I had them on a ring that I just slipped over the collar and then I buckled the collar closed. The groomers obviously were careless. I don't like to attach the tags directly to the ring on the collar itself, since then it's so difficult to transfer the tags to a new collar or change anything. The last tag clips I used failed. So today I found Tagnabbits (love the name) at Petco. I am using them to attach the tags to the ring on the collar, along with my old method of attachment by putting the tag ring over the collar,so the tags should be very secure. It also keeps the tags from hanging low, which I like. They were $2.99. There are other gizmos out there but these seemed easy, sturdy and not too expensive.
This is a good idea. I'm still using the old S hook method that I've been using for a million years, give or take a year, and changing collars is a royal pain, although, I rarely do it. I think it's time for a change.
I'm glad they found the tags!
I like it too. We were just discussing this today because we are taking off and on prong collars. The tags get tangled in the other collar and it just becomes a mess. My arthritic fingers ( yep, I'm just a tad bit younger than you two above but I bet my fingers are older ) can't do the rings very well ...........I was just about to give up dognabbit.
These look like the ones I used to have that failed. I don't think I'll get an entirely good review of he ones I bout since I'm only using them as a back up with the main "anchor, being the ring over the collar itself. They do seem sturdier and harder to open then the ones I have , which are no longer listed on the site from which I ordered them.
You are all welcome. As for prong collars, I still swear by the ones I had made for the dogs with these so far very secure and easy to put on and off closures. I could never manage those links with my fingers. Here's a link to the pictures of the closure. But I also see that Shannon is in the midst of a move and not taking orders now, that's a pity. http://web.mac.com/shannonshepherd/leashesbydesign/Collars/ProngCol...
