My puppy is almost 6 months old. I am wondering if it is time to move him from a 3 times a day feeding schedule to a big boy twice a day routine. When he eats a good meal in the morning he barely touches the midday meal, but sometimes he will get very interested in it. When he does he almost ignores his evening feed but will try and eat it later in the evening after 6 if it is still left out.

Switch him to two meals a day now.

Six months is actually late. It depends on the individual dog and his expected adult size. Smaller dogs mature earlier than larger ones. A lot of pups are switched to two meals a day by 4 months, especially the smaller doodles.

Every food is different too, so the vet can;t really tell you how much to feed. It depends on how many calories are in the food. It can vary by more than 100 calories per cup. Use the guidelines on the bag and adjust up or down as needed.

We've always fed Myla  twice a day since we got her at eight weeks.  The rest of the day she would get enough "treats" (which was her dry kibble) every time she went potty or obeyed simple commands.

Us too, we only feed Sasha twice a day and that's good enough for her.

I've only ever fed twice a day also, from the day every pup has come home. On this routine I usually know when the final "job" of the day will be so I don't wake up to a surprise in the morning :-/

In my book, if they aren't really hungry for a meal - they can skip one.   After breakfast he should be very happy to see dinner.
