I am curious as to how much I really should be feeding Foster.  He weighed about 75 lbs at his last check up.  I have been feeding him 2 cups 2xs a day.  What are your thoughts?

Even Karen, our resident food expert, couldn't possibly tell you. Two cups of what and how many calories per cup? And how active is Foster? If you can feel his ribs but they are not sticking out her is probably fine. But if you tell us more maybe we can tell you more. My Calla gets half of what Foster does at about 65 pounds but she is not very active.

F is right. Every food has a different calorie content, and the amount you feed depends on that. Use the package feeding information as a guideline and adjust up or down according to your individual dog's needs.

Well, let's see.....the food is Pure Balance.  I just looked to check the calories, it's not listed.  The feeding chart on it says 51 - 100 lbs feed 3 3/4 cups to 6 cups.  Foster was very active up until we suddenly lost our puppy in November.  We are getting our new puppy this Saturday, so I am guessing his activity will increase again :)

Each formula is slightly different. But Pure Balance is not on DK's recommended list probably because it contains beets and for other reasons, perhaps sourcing. There are better foods you can feed your dog(s) if you wish.

Mostly because it's Walmart's Food and is made by the same company that makes Ol' Roy. Sourcing is a nightmare.
