FHO Surgery (Femoral Head Ostectomy)
Has anyone's doodle had to have FHO surgery? My Goldendoodle Dazi is almost 7 months old and has been having trouble. I took her to the vet and the Dr did xrays and she has severe hip dyplasia. She is having FHO surgery on the right hip wednesday. The surgeon says this is the best thing for her instead of a full hip replacement. She is in a lot of pain and I hope this is going to help her. She will have the left side done after she has healed up from the right side. I sick with worry and wondering if anyone else has gone through this and how is the recovery for them. I hate this for my baby. I cant stand to see her in pain.

Yes it has to say the ratings..,my breeder posts their ratings and doesn't breed any that are not at least fair...but usually good or better.

And even then, it did happen with Penny's Beemer, but your breeder honored her health guarantee and gave a refund.

Yes I know that sweet baby ....very sad......any disease in these babies is sad. Thankfully she has always honored her guarantee ....And I am pretty sure she will, she just did it again this week for something that was not genetic but she felt bad for them ....full refund and offer for 50 percent off next dog....I would expect nothing less from her ....

I guess I should have researched better when I was looking for a breeder. I really dont care about getting a refund, I just wanted her to know there was a problem. Dazi was born with this. I just want my baby to be free from pain. Its heartbreaking to see her having trouble.

Yes, it's important for her not to breed these dogs again so that other puppies don't have to go through this. But when you are looking at $6000 to $10,000 worth of surgeries, the refund would help. Those health guarantees and health testing (and all the other website hype) are why people pay so much for their puppy to begin with; otherwise, everyone might as well just go to a BYB or a puppy mill. :)

Think of it this way if money is not an issue for you, how many more dogs are going to be born with life-long pain and limited mobility? Does this have to happen? Fight for the dogs who won't get an owner like you. An owner who will just put them down or dump in a shelter.
They need to answer to false claims. So so sad for this senseless crap.

Start keeping records. Keep a folder.
Get your girl healthy, but don't let this issue go easy. This really bothers me.
Sure, it's a money issue, but also these poor helpless dogs are suffering while all this money is made.
