Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Has anyone's doodle had to have FHO surgery? My Goldendoodle Dazi is almost 7 months old and has been having trouble. I took her to the vet and the Dr did xrays and she has severe hip dyplasia. She is having FHO surgery on the right hip wednesday. The surgeon says this is the best thing for her instead of a full hip replacement. She is in a lot of pain and I hope this is going to help her. She will have the left side done after she has healed up from the right side. I sick with worry and wondering if anyone else has gone through this and how is the recovery for them. I hate this for my baby. I cant stand to see her in pain.

Jennifer,
After this week, you may want to contact the member who wrote this post and see how things are going.
You asked and here it is.... another member with the same issue, same breeder

It would be interesting to know if either of the parents are the same.
i was told by the breeder that this was the first time breeding Dazi's mom and dad
This post does say this...
'His parents were Parker and Roxy. (...If I remember correctly.)'
Dazi's parents were Lucy and Rave, said it was the first time breeding the two of them
Jennifer ,
I had typed this message 3x and dont know what happened to it. I will try again. Thank you very much for that information. I sent a message to that person to see if they will talk to me about what they went through. Its crap that she would just offer a replacement puppy. She covers herself well in her contract so she is not liable for anything. I hope that person will contact me. I appreciate you and thank you for all your help and support and wanting to help get to the bottom of this. Im so angry and so sad for my baby. I got you on speed dial. :) Thanks again for everything.
I think Parker and Rave are related if I remember right. but i'm not positive. Thank you for all your help and support. I really do appreciate it. I wish me and Dazi could meet all of you after she is all better to say thanks for everything
And it's possible that Dazi's parents were offspring of the other dogs, too.
Scratch that. Looks like they only breed F1s?
I'm so sorry to hear that you and Dazi are going through this. Growing up we had a Kuvasz (large breed) with hip dysplasia. He went through this surgery and recovered very well. He was in pain right after the surgery but it is the long term pain free benefit that made it all worth it. Now regarding your breeder- I agree with the other posters. She sounds quite ridiculous and I hope that you are able to get something resolved there. It isn't as if you got her spayed at 6 months and then she instantly gets severe hip dysplasia a month later. I looked up the article she cites to base her info on, and it is primarily against very early spaying (before 5 1/2 months) as some breeders do before the puppies go home. I found another article that disputes most of what the article she cites says and points to the increased benefits of spaying before the first heat -primarily for increased protection against mammary cancer. Just know that you did not do anything wrong by having her spayed at 6 months and you did not cause this. Your breeder needs to take responsibility.

I hope all goes well with the surgery and remember while she will have pain after surgery, it is the long term, happy, pain free life you are giving her in the long run that makes it all worth it.
Angie
