My pup is 8 months old and a complete adorable fluff ball...everyone asks his breed. I love the look, do not like the poodle shaved look and am determined to keep him that way, unless I am hurting him to do so. He has mats around his chest, neck, ears and tummy. I have no problem having them shave those away and leave his back and head long, but the groomer wants to shave him all over so his hair can grow back evenly and matt free. I would prefer just shaving the bad areas, even if he looks choppy as his long hair may cover most of it. I was wondering how to solve this probem? Do you recommend an over all trim/haircur but leaving it long, other than the matted areas ? Any advice is appreciated to this vain Doodle Mom. If anyone knows a good groomer in NJ, let me know.
Thank you! She really did a good job. With as hyper as he is, I expected him to be choppy - but the cut came out perfect. I was really scared with all the horror stories I have heard.
Hey! I love this haircut. I'm taking my Brooks in for his 3rd grooming..first time cutting the fur on his body...and am so anxious because he has some matting..it doesn't seem BAD to me...but I'm scared they will want to shave..but am hopeful that maybe I can get away with 1 inch all over and leave his face kindaaaa shaggy? Is there anyway you could send me your after grooming pictures in a larger size so I can take them to the groomer with me!?!??! Thanks a BUNCH! :)
How did the grooming go? Today is Reggie's first real cut and I am very nervous they will shave him. He has lots of matts, mostly in the neck/chest areas,so any pointers will be appreciated. Our dogs have the same Teddy Bear look..your is beatiful. Thanks.
We have Invisible Fence and uless I stay outside with him he goes into my beds, digs etc. I have used wire meshing to protect major areas and keep him away from burrs. I hate to spoil him by always being there, but do not know how to handle this. Any sussggestiolns....he is 8 months.
Ann, I have had my own dogs since 1977, and I have never had a dog outdoors without me. Until 2006, I didn't have a fenced yard at all, invisible or otherwise. I know this isn't the topic of this discussion, but I just wanted to let you know that it won't spoil a dog for you to always be outside with him. In fact, some dogs dig out of boredom from being left alone in the yard by themselves, with nothing to do, long periods. Not saying it's wrong to have a dog alone in a secure yard, but it won't spoil him if you want to be out there with him. You can probably get him to stop the digging & destruction by fall, and then you can stay inside again, lol.
