Photos of horrendous conditions at Beachside Doodles. Brevard County has just cracked down on a puppy mill running in Mims. Owner was in court Thursday, May 15, 2014 and found guilty on 69 counts of inhumane treatment and fined $18,000 for inhumane treatment and failure to vaccinate. He has now moved the dogs and puppies but is still advertising the puppies for sale. Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. He and his girlfriend use the company names of Beachside Doodles and Pretty Little Doodles and possibly other names. Sick puppies have been sold, some in the Lakeland area and elsewhere. His name is Leonardo Badia and his girlfriend is [Name removed by admin. Please contact OP]. If you hear of him selling any puppies or giving away adults "free to a good home" BEWARE!! Vet records have been produced on 5 adult dogs and at least one puppy so far. They need to be stopped! He drives a Lexus that he bragged the puppy sales paid for....yet the dogs he owns go without! He will most likely be selling as many puppies as possible to pay his fines. They are advertising that they are now taking deposits in Sammy's puppies....Sammy has been rescued thanks to some great people, she is heartworm positive, full of hook and whip worms, fleas infested, has a severe skin condition and will need ongoing medical care. Sammy's puppies are nothing more than a free ride for them. Please spread the word about them and DO NOT BUY from them. Help us break the cycle! If you see any "free to a good home" posts for Goldens, Labs, or Poodles, please respond to this post.

Thanks for posting this, Adrianne. It's important for everyone to know the truth behind some of the cute pictures on a website. You can't order a puppy on-line like a pair of shoes. If you can't visit, or you don't know someone personally who has, it's a big risk to buy a puppy sight unseen. Buyer beware. "They seemed nice" isn't a good enough reason to trust someone; all successful con artists and opportunists seem nice, that's how they get people to fall for their scams.
I can't tell you the number of times I have seen them advertised and their puppies look very sickly. My groomer owns a doodle and this puppy mill contacted her to see if she could sell some of them for her...My groomers response was "NO"...
Makes me sick to think of these poor babies....
Thanks so much for posting this to alert prospective buyers about these terrible people.
:(
I hope they can be stopped for good. Makes me sick.
$18,000 for 69 counts of inhumane treatment doesn't seems like nearly enough to deter a guy who drives a Lexus, and the court let him keep the dogs. Very sad.
That absolutely disgusting. How these people are still able to stay in business is beyond me. Jail time sounds more like it.
I bought my dog, Stella, from them a year and a half ago. I had never owned a dog before and didn't know anything about breeders. Anyway, Stella hasn't had any health problems and she is very active with a personality that can brighten anyone's day. She's great around people of all ages, other animals, etc.
I had my reservations about these people when they wouldn't let us come to their house to meet Stella, but rather in the park. I fell in love with her though, and took her home the following week. It p***** me off that these people would do this, and I want to punch that chick and her bf in the face for being phonies.
I'm thankful that Stella is in good health, and I wish the best of luck to all of the other puppies involved with this. I hope they will be stopped!
Thanks, Adrianne,very good to know.
I'm glad he was prosecuted but $18,000 doesn't sound like much. Given 69 counts of inhumane treatment, I don't understand why these jerks were allowed to keep any puppies. I hope people spread the word about Badia and [his girlfriend -- name removed by admin, please contact OP for details].
I've posted before but will keep posting hoping that the more people are informed, the less misery: People do not buy a puppy unless you or someone you trust has visited the breeder AND has seen where the breeder dogs are kept and that the breeder meets DK guidelines. I put a deposit on a golden doodle puppy. The breeder was an Owner Recommended Breeder on another doodle site. She had a pretty little outbuilding with several kennels, all empty. She claimed to have all sorts of health testing done. Many happy online references. I met the mom but the breeder made all kinds of excuses why she couldn't show me where the dogs were kept. I was able to check her PA kennel inspection record. A filthy severely matted poodle stud. Boxes that were too small for the dogs to stand up. Exposed to the elements. Unsafe kennel fencing. Wounds left untreated. More litters of pups annually than she disclosed to me. I confronted her with the evidence and asked for my deposit back. Buyer Beware!
One simple thing you can do to research a "breeder" is to google the phone number. You would be surprised what you can sometimes find.
