Found an oral lesion... a bit freaked out. Anyone recognize this?

I have a vet appointment made for the morning, but would love it if someone recognized this as possibly something benign before then!

Just found a spongy looking, pale pink to white 1cm x 0.5 cm lesion on Hoka's inner- lower lip. Not painful, not bleeding, he is acting 100% his 10 month old puppy self.

I am probably more freaked out than necessary as I have lost 2 dogs to oral cancer ( a 4yo Elkhound and a 12 yo Chinook) and another to brain cancer (9 yo doodle).

Thanks for looking... maybe someone has had this before.

It could be a histiocytoma but your vet needs to see it and perhaps biopsy it. It certainly could be benign.

It looks pretty close to the oral papilloma. I am hoping that's the case.

I thought it was an oral papilloma before I even saw the picture. Others here have had dogs with them. They're harmless.

Thanks, That is what it looks like. I get a cold fear in my heart now with any lesions.

Sounds like the dog park might be a no-go until gone, but that's the least of my worries.  He has certainly stolen into my heart in the last 8 months!

I agree with the others now. It looks more like an oral papilloma.

Vet does say it looks like the oral papilloma virus. There are 3 other tiny ones in other areas of his lip.  Hopefully will pass on it's own.  We will have to watch and wait,  Thanks for looking and helping me stay calm until I was able to have him looked at!
