I received a funny email today.

We are looking for another puppy to add to our family so I have been on on countless websites and have inquired about so many pups so far.  So I'm not sure who this was from because they did not say...

> to read from you at your earliest convenience.
> Thanks.waiting to read from you soon

SO I write her back asking for more information and if I can call her and pictures.  She writes me back and see attachment for pictures.  Looked like those pictures from the puppy breeders so I looked up as many as possible and YUP found those pictures from someone in PENN.

Hello Joanna
> Thanks for your sympathy dear,
> We will like to know which sex you are interested in okay, and we will
> help you arrange for a home delivery service to LA hope that is okay.
> As concerns the re homing and delivery fee you will pay just $240 okay.
> Do get back to me if that is okay with you

> Waiting

I told her I wanted home pics of them together and she said she will send them to me tonight.  She also said she posted those pictures which is a lie because the ones I found were in a diff state and they were listed for something like $800.

Isn't it SO ODD?  Is she making up her daughters accident for sympathy?  She said her daughter passed 3 wks ago...and these pups are 10 wks old?  why is she giving them out for free?  why is she using pictures from the web?  Is something wrong with the pups?  I'm so confused and sad.  Is she a broker? a puppy mill?  Or am I being too suspicious?  HELP!

OHhhh I have a chair listed on Craigslist!  I knew it wasn't someone I originally emailed!

There is not enough money in the world to make me ever deal with Craig's List again. Seriously. Not if someone there would pay me $10,000 for an old chair. I would rather leave it out for the garbage men.

OMD, these people are seriously crazy. This is so similar, right down to the AIDS seminars. I mean, WTD???

Brrrr, it gives me the creeps.

Every time I have tried to sell anything on CL I end up dealing with a bunch of wackos!  Twice I have listed something for FREE and people call and ask me to deliver it!!  Oh, RIGHT! I'm going to do THAT!

It's just as bad when you try to buy something on CL. I bought a used dog crate for a foster, the man wanted me to meet him at some very specific time like 2:23 p.m. in a restaurant parking lot somewhere.

I told him I needed a little bigger window, like say between 2:15 and 2:30, lol, and brought my 6'3" stepson with me.

Next time you have something you want to get rid of, try Freecycle. They have chapters all over. A few nuts there too, but mostly good people who are concerned about the environment. I got rid of all my unwanted furniture through them when I downsized homes.

Weird and spooky! 2:23? LOL!

I be worried about a remote controlled bomb  at 2:23 : )

Oh, and thanks for the tip on Freecycle. I hadn't heard of it before.

I did have two, and only two, good experiences buying something from Craig's list. But basically not my sort of thing. But what did The HIV seminar this emailer wrote about, have to do with anything? Very strange missive .

i was so confused that a person would give out their puppies for free or that they would be so shady.  I never thought about people that SCAM!!!  How awful...

Run Joanna, Run!!

Do as Karen says. I would not deal with anyone over the internet to purchase a dog.  I am sure there are lots of great breeders in your neck of the woods.  You need to lays eyes on the place and the parents before agreeing to purchase.

That's so fishy it reeks of sardines LOL!!!! Trust your instincts and stay away.  Stick with recommended breeders or rescue groups on Petfinder.  Or contact the DRC or iDog DIRECTLY for more info about rescuing.  Good luck.

And another thing:  most really reputable breeders have waitlists.  I am not saying a good breeder does not have available pups "ready to go NOW", but the really good ones who have good reputations and health test have waitlists.  I know it's a blanket statement and not true in all cases, but there is something to think about with that.  Peri's breeder's lists fill up months in advance before pregnancies are confirmed.

i have my application submitted for both DRC and IDOG =)
