Yep. As I wrote the other day, it is a Black Market Product. That said, sometimes you may get the correct product and other times you may get a fake. You will never know. Frontline has the largest fraud going on at this time and this is why I think we see post after post of complaints about Ticks and Fleas problems
So, only buy products from your Vet
Apparently, vets are selling it to the retail stores themselves: http://news.vin.com/VINNews.aspx?articleId=22512
And Merial knows, apparently, for quite some time: http://news.vin.com/VINNews.aspx?articleId=20241
Of course, if there was a way to know that the big box store bought it from a vet, you'd know that it was the real thing, at least.
There is also evidence that there is no way to know if it was from a vet selling it off to retail or a counterfeit product shipped in from overseas. Retailers don't know and don't care. They just need products on the shelves. A middleman is going to make a profit no matter what they have to do. Sure, they may want the real product and will try to go to the unethical vet, but they just want products to sell. Turn their heads - sure. Sell a repacked fake product~ maybe?
So, again, bottom line, go to a vet
Thank you, Karen. I was telling you about this article the other day but I could not find my source. That was what I read. Thank you for finding.
For some reason I can't reply under a post again so I'll just place it here.
Lesson here is to go to your vet and purchase medical products. Never use a retail store. That includes online.
I don't think the product or Merial is to blame. It's a good product. We just hear too much on here about problems with the product. So, Consumer beware!
SO SO true.. Joanne your post is what made me call the company to find out…… Jack unfortunately is back at my moms right now as I am scheduled to go into the hospital at the end of this week but I called her and we are bringing it all back to Costco…...
